Privacy Policy
Effective 24 September 2026
In short
•
We collect what you put on your profile, including your sect, community and gotra, which we use only with your consent.
•
Members see your profile. Your phone number and email open only to people you connect with.
•
We never sell your data, and there are no ads.
•
Your data is stored in India. You can delete your account at any time, and it is gone straight away.
•
Questions or complaints: our Grievance Officer at grievance@paraspar.in.
This policy explains what Paraspar collects, why, who can see it, how long we keep it and the choices you have. It covers the Paraspar apps and website. Apoorv Singhai, trading as Paraspar ("we", "us") is responsible for your data.
Who we are
Paraspar is run by Apoorv Singhai, trading as Paraspar, Arihant Vihar Colony, Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh 464001. We decide why and how your personal data is used, which makes us the Data Fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the controller under the EU and UK GDPR.
Questions and requests go to support@paraspar.in. Complaints go to our Grievance Officer, Apoorv Singhai, at grievance@paraspar.in.
What we collect
•
Account: your mobile number, confirmed with a one-time code, and your email address or Google or Apple sign-in if you use one. There is no password. Which version of these policies you accepted, and when.
•
Profile: who manages the profile, name, gender, date of birth, height, marital status, mother tongue and what you write about yourself; education, college, occupation, employer and income range; family details such as parents’ occupations, brothers and sisters, and family type; where you live and your hometown, residency and willingness to relocate; photographs; and, if you add them, horoscope details such as birth time and place, manglik status, rashi and nakshatra.
•
Religious and community details: sect, sub-sect, community, gotra, nakh or mool, native place and diet. These reveal your religious beliefs, so we treat them as sensitive and use them only with the explicit consent you give when you join.
•
Biodata: the extra family details you add only to your printable biodata, such as your parents’ names, your mosal and a contact person. They are printed on the biodata you make and are never shown to other members or to our moderators.
•
Activity: interests you send and receive, your shortlist, profiles you hide, saved searches, profile views, blocks, reports, and your messages with accepted connections.
•
Technical: a device token for notifications, the app version, and basic logs such as IP address, time and errors, which our hosting providers keep for security and to fix problems.
•
Sign-in codes: for each code we send, a scrambled form of the number, the network address it was asked from, how it was sent and whether it arrived. We keep this for 30 days, to limit how many codes anyone can ask for.
We do not collect your contacts or your location. Photos are resized on your phone before upload, which also removes the hidden location data cameras add to pictures.
Why we use it
•
To run the service you asked for: your account, showing your profile to other members, suggesting matches, and letting you send interests and messages.
•
To keep members safe: reviewing profiles and photos before they go live, finding fake and duplicate profiles, acting on reports and enforcing our terms.
•
To tell you what is happening: notifications about interests, messages and your profile’s review.
•
To meet the law: answering lawful requests from authorities and keeping the records we are required to keep.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers or use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
Who can see it
•
Other signed-in members see your profile, including your full name, once it is approved.
•
Your photos follow your setting: all members, or only accepted connections. With the second, other members see only a heavy blur of your main photo, made of its colours and rough shape, until you connect.
•
Your phone number and email are shown only to people whose interest you accept, or who accept yours.
•
Someone who opens a link you share sees a short preview: your name, age, height, city, sect, community, education and occupation. Photos and contact details stay behind sign-in, and search engines are asked not to index these pages.
•
A biodata you download or share includes your mobile numbers unless you switch them off on the biodata screen. Anyone it is forwarded to can see them.
•
Our moderators see profiles and photos under review, and reports with the profiles involved. They cannot read your messages or your biodata extras.
•
Service providers that run parts of Paraspar for us, under contracts that limit them to that work: Supabase for the database, sign-in and photo storage, hosted in Mumbai, India; Cloudflare for the website, and for checking that requests for sign-in codes come from people rather than programs; WhatsApp (Meta) and our SMS provider (currently Fast2SMS), which receive only your mobile number and the sign-in code they deliver; Expo for delivering notifications, which receives only a device token and the notification text; Google and Apple if you sign in with them, and for app downloads and any future payments; and our email provider for sign-in codes and account emails.
•
Authorities, when the law requires it, such as a valid court order or a lawful request under India’s Information Technology Act. We share only what is required.
Where it is kept
Your data is stored in Mumbai, India. Members who live abroad use the same servers, so their data is transferred to India. Some providers, such as the notification, email and WhatsApp services, may handle a small amount of data in other countries, with the safeguards the law requires.
How long we keep it
•
Your profile, photos and activity are kept for as long as your account exists.
•
When you delete your account, your sign-in, profile, photos, interests, shortlist, messages and everything else tied to it are deleted straight away. Copies in encrypted database backups are overwritten within 30 days.
•
Hiding your profile deletes nothing; it simply stops showing it.
•
Where the law requires us to keep something for longer, such as records needed for a legal claim or an investigation, we keep only that, and only for as long as required.
Your rights
•
See and correct your data: everything on your profile can be viewed and edited in the app at any time.
•
Delete it: delete your account yourself in Settings, or, before you finish signing up, from the menu at the top of the sign-up screens. You can also ask us by email.
•
Withdraw consent: you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account. Religious and community details are central to how Paraspar matches families, so a profile cannot run without them.
•
Nominate someone: under the DPDP Act you may nominate a person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to. Email us to do this.
•
Complain: to our Grievance Officer first, and then, under the DPDP Act, to the Data Protection Board of India.
•
If you live in the EU or UK, you can also restrict or object to how we use your data, ask for a copy in a portable form, and complain to your local data protection authority.
We acknowledge every request within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days.
Security
•
Everything travels encrypted, and our database provider encrypts stored data.
•
The database itself enforces who may read each record. Contact details, for example, can be read only by accepted connections.
•
Photos are kept in private storage and served through links that expire.
•
The apps block screenshots of other members’ profiles, and photos on the website carry a watermark.
•
Phone numbers and email addresses typed into messages or your About text are hidden automatically.
If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
Age
Paraspar is only for people who can marry under Indian law: 21 or older for men and 18 or older for women. We do not knowingly allow anyone younger, and we delete a profile as soon as we learn its member is under age.
Profiles managed by family
A parent, sibling, relative or friend may manage a profile for someone, but only with that person’s knowledge and consent. The person the profile is about can ask us at any time to hand it over to them or to delete it.
Cookies and local storage
The website keeps your sign-in and settings, such as language, in your browser’s local storage. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, the version and date at the top change too. If a change affects how we use your data, we ask for your agreement in the app before it applies to you.
