Most people on Paraspar are exactly who they say they are. These habits protect you and your family from the few who are not.
Before you share your number
•
Keep talking on Paraspar until you are comfortable. Your number and email stay hidden until you both accept.
•
Have a video call, ideally with family present, before meeting. Be wary of anyone who always has a reason not to show their face.
•
Check the facts that matter, such as work, education and family, through people you trust.
•
Notice if details change between conversations, or do not match the profile.
Money: the one rule
Never send money, gift cards or bank details, or share a one-time password, with anyone you meet here. Not for a medical emergency, a customs fee on a gift, visa costs, a business opportunity or anything else.
Paraspar will never ask you for money on behalf of another member. Anyone who asks for money is almost certainly running a scam: stop replying and report them.
Members who live abroad
A common fraud is a person who says they live abroad, builds trust quickly, and then needs money for travel, customs or an emergency. Insist on video calls, speak with their family, and never pay for anything on their behalf.
Meeting in person

For the first meetings, meet in a busy public place, and consider bringing family along.
•
Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
•
Arrange your own travel, and keep your phone charged.
•
Leave if anything feels wrong. You never owe anyone a second meeting.
Dowry
Asking for or giving dowry is a crime under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. If anyone raises it, report them on Paraspar. You can also go to the police.
If something goes wrong

Block and report the person from their profile or your chat. We look at reports quickly.
•
In an emergency, call 112.
•
Online fraud or cyber crime: call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in.
